Wave upon wave washed sand away
Yet our feet stood steadfast
Pointing together towards the seas
Immeasurably vast embrace.

Behind us grey clouds compounded
Each carrying a vehement distaste
For the freedoms and wellbeing
Of the family called the human race.

A force of ill will moving through a few
Hiding in plain sight germinated a seed
Planted in their model for a world
They want to usher in, globally recreate.

Beside her I felt acknowledged
My old flame had been snuffed out at last
She remained close to me throughout
As the plague of lies was conjured.

Unprecedented measures were set
Our lives curtailed by the few
Acquiescence was a virus that spread
Their parody of fear its token.

Initially rage sent me into despair
How can people be so uneducated?
How can they give their power away?
I felt like the end of my world was here.
